COURSE: Intercultural Design / Bachelor of Design (Honors) in Creative Media
GROUP: Class 01 Sec 01
Information Design (GCD60504)
Requirements:
For this exercise we supposed to quantify our chosen items and arrange the objects into a presentable layout or chart. I decided to go with fluffy color deco balls. I started by sorting them based on their colors and then arranged them in order of their quantity and condition on the A3 paper.
Arrange the objects in a structured layout to clearly present the data.
Label and annotate the display with relevant indicators using pens or markers to help visualize the quantities.
Photo 1: Random objects before sorting.
Photo 2: Objects sorted into categories (2-5 categories).
Photo 3: Final presentation with written information on paper, showing the categorized data.
Step 1.
At the beginning, I scattered the fluffy balls randomly into a pile to observe their distribution and colors. Then, I organized them by color, separating them into distinct groups. This helped me visualize patterns and consider different ways to arrange them creatively.
I started with a simple color classification, then experimented with different formations. Through multiple attempts, I discovered that arranging them in lines made it easier to see differences in quantity and structure. As I continued, I realized that some fluffy balls were of different quality—some appeared denser and more vibrant, while others were slightly misshapen or faded. This led me to further categorize them based on their appearance.
I explored various shapes, forming lines, circles, and rectangular patterns, testing how colors interacted in different layouts. The circular formations created a sense of balance, while the rectangular structures felt more structured and defined. This process helped me refine my approach to arrangement and inspired me to think about how different elements can be visually represented in a meaningful way.
Overall, this exercise reinforced the importance of organization, observation, and iterative experimentation. Through arranging these fluffy balls, I gained insights into color coordination, pattern recognition, and spatial arrangement, which could be applied to other aspects of design and creativity
