Project 2 : Conceptual Photoshoot & Digital Imaging

Week 9 Lecture

Digital Surrealism had be introduced by Mr.Fauzi on Week 9

In this week we delved into the concept of digital surrealism. The distinction between realism and surrealism lies in their choice of subject matter. Realism focuses on the ordinary and commonplace aspects of the world, often referred to as "reality." On the other hand, surrealism explores the realms of the subconscious mind, centering on dream-images and intentionally distorting what we perceive as ordinary reality.

Digital surrealism constitutes a cultural movement that employs various forms of art to convey the artist's personal ideas. It stands out as one of the prominent digital art styles in our current digital era.

Surrealism, as a movement in visual art and literature, thrived in Europe between World Wars I and II. Rooted in the earlier Dada movement, which produced anti-art works that deliberately defied reason before World War I, surrealism distinguished itself by emphasizing positive expression rather than negation.

2.SUMMARY
  • Yu Yee Oil &Fire extinguisher
  • Hot Air Ballon & Boom
For my photo manipulation homework, I tried to gather some creative ideas online. I came across a few interesting examples on Pinterest, and I did my best to create something funny and attractive. I decided to combine a hot air balloon with a boom. The idea was inspired by a famous anime, "Attack on Titan." Another concept I explored involved merging a fire extinguisher with a well-known medical oil called Yu Yee Oil. Initially, we sketched out the idea of using Tabasco, but it looked too ordinary and lacked appeal, so I opted for the unique twist of Yu Yee Oil.
